Sing Well Singing Course

Week Six
Jaw

1 - What We Are Doing This Week

Your marvelous lower jaw makes such a difference to your singing! Tension in your lower jaw makes it hard to sing freely, so let's look at relaxing your jaw.

2 - Here’s How

In this section, I'll talk you through this lesson's exercises in detail, so you can understand what you are doing and why. When you've worked through this section, go to section 3 which has the same exercises but without the explanations,  so you can get on with your daily practice without listening to me yibber yabber.

The Wonderful Whatever

A chance to channel your inner ratbag teenager.

Easy Does It

The lower jaw is often a place where people carry tension. If this is an area of tightness for you, don't stress! It could be a long term project to unwind. If you have clicking and/or soreness in your TMJ and these exercises are at all challenging or uncomfortable it would be worthwhile following up with a medical practitioner.

3 - Your Daily Practice

Put your hand on your hip, and stick your hip out to the side if it helps with the character!

4 - This Week’s Song

I've written this song with open, easy vowels, where your jaw naturally relaxes. Move from each consonant into the vowels, letting your jaw go darlings.
